Arbutin and Vitamin C inhibit the activity of tyrosinase, an enzyme essential in the process of melanin formation. Lightderm® inhibits growth and maturation of the melanosomes.  Additionally, it reduces the number of melanosomes, specialized parts of melanocyte cells responsible for the synthesis and storage of melanin.

Niacinamide limits the transfer of melanin to keratinocytes in the epidermis. Papain, an enzyme from the protease group, present in the cream, gently removes dead skin cells and stimulates regeneration. The skin becomes smoother, its tone evens out, and discolorations fade.
